JERUSALEM - An Israeli kibbutz hunting for a new angle to market its produce has invented a new banana, with the taste of an apple, the daily Maariv reported yesterday.

Officials at the Rosh Hanikra collective farm, near the Lebanese border in northern Israel, put the "banapple" in local markets over the weekend at the start of the Jewish Passover holiday, and plans to market the new fruit nationwide next week.
