John Kennedy has been appointed as a non-executive director to the board of building materials giant CRH.
Mr Kennedy (59),is chairman of London-listed energy firm Wellstream Holdings and is a former executive vice president of Halliburton.
He also acts as an adviser and a consultant to several energy related companies.
