The affection shown for the late TD Mr Jim Kemmy by the people of Limerick was recalled yesterday by the new Mayor, Mr Joe Harrington, and the retiring president of the University of Limerick, Dr Edward Walsh.
They were launching the 34th edition of The Old Limerick Journal, which Mr Kemmy revived and continued to edit until shortly before his death last September.
Dr Walsh said that "Jim Kemmy's affection for and commitment to his community was so great that it will always be remembered". The continuity of the journal by some of his colleagues would be the most fitting memorial.
