The jury in the trial of a former St Patrick's Athletic footballer accused of conspiring to smuggle heroin into the Republic was sent home again yesterday after a second day of legal argument.

Mr Derek Dunne (28), of Alfie Byrne House, Dublin, has pleaded not guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to conspiring with Mr Anthony Wilkinson, Mr John Lavin, Mr David Dunne and others to smuggle heroin to the Republic between July 1st, 1994, and March 21st last year.
