The jury in the trial of a Cork man charged with kidnapping his son from his foster parents' home has been discharged at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on the second day of the hearing.

Judge Gerard Buchanan told the jury that certain matters had arisen which surprised everyone and they would have to be investigated further.

He remanded Mr Michael Murphy (50), Riverview Heights, Blarney, on continuing bail for further mention of the case on February 23rd Mr Murphy is denying charges of kidnapping and detaining his son Christopher Murphy on December 14th, 1991.
