The jury in the trial of a west Dublin man for rape has been sent to a hotel overnight.

Mr Justice Roderick Murphy at the Central Criminal Court sent the jury away for the night after it had failed to reach a verdict following nearly three hours deliberation on day-six of the trial.

The 38-year-old accused has pleaded not guilty to raping a woman he had been dating for some weeks at her north city home on September 9th, 2004.
