The jury in the trial of a gardai accused of assaulting a Reclaim the Streets marcher in Dublin two years ago has been discharged after failing to reach a verdict.

It was day-8 of the trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Yvonne Murphy remanded Garda

The jury of six men and six women told Judge Murphy it was deadlocked after considering its verdict for during almost four hours which it again viewed some of the video footage of the event and was told it could return a majority verdict.

Tallon of Mountjoy Garda Station, had pleaded not guilty to assault causing harm to Mr Fergal Leddy on May 6th, 2002. Tallon on continuing bail to July 16th when a date for a new trial could be set.
