PARIS - The French Prime Minister, Mr Alain Juppe, is considering imposing quotas of women candidates on electoral lists, although most parliamentarians would vote against such a law, the daily Le Monde said yesterday.

It said Mr Juppe's conservative government was studying whether to propose legislation introducing such quotas before legislative elections in 1998.
