A lorry driver was commended for bravery in overcoming the difficulties he encountered as a result of an accident by Mr Justice Robert Barr in the High Court in Cork.

Mr Denis Noonan, of St Colman's Park, Macroom, was awarded £82,500 damages against Castlemore Quarries, of Crookstown, Co Cork. On June 14th, 1993, Mr Noonan was sitting in the cab of his lorry when the tipper crashed on to the chassis of the vehicle. He was thrown forward and fractured bones in his back.

Mr Justice Barr said that Mr Noonan was a man of exceptional courage.
