A DISTRICT court judge yesterday said there was something radically wrong when he heard a youth he had sentenced to nine months imprisonment was out on temporary release six weeks later.

Michael Hughes, Meadowview, Drogheda, Co Louth, was before the court for failing to comply with the direction of a garda on October 11th.

Judge Brennan said it was not Hughes's fault he was released when he should not have been.

Hughes pleaded guilty to the public order offence outside a club in Drogheda. The case was adjourned until January 24th.
