Champagney - The French Prime Minister, Mr Lionel Jospin, paid tribute to South Africa's President Nelson Mandela and the late Martin Luther King yesterday. He was attending ceremonies marking the abolition of slavery in France's colonies 150 years ago.

"They followed the same inspiration: to free oneself without chasing away the other, to undo one's bonds without becoming an oppressor in return," Mr Jospin said.
