Jetski used to rescue Strangford Lough canoeist

A canoeist was rescued earlier today by several members of the public after his boat capsized in Strangford Lough, Co Down.

A canoeist was rescued earlier today by several members of the public after his boat capsized in Strangford Lough, Co Down.

He was taken to hospital suffering from exposure after being in the water for around an hour. A person on land raised the alarm.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said he was rescued by several people using a jetski.

A police helicopter spotted him and the Portaferry lifeboat was also sent to the area.

A coastguard spokesman said: “The ambulance crew assessed him, and he seemed to be ok, just a bit cold.”
