TOKYO - Seven South Korean women who were used as sex slaves by the Japanese army daring the second World War have each been past five million yen (£43,000), the Japanese fund set up to compensate the "comfort women" said yesterday. The action has provoked a bitter reaction from the South Korean government, which said Japan had not "acknowledged the seriousness of the issue".
