Jakarta - Indonesia said yesterday it was unaware of any initiative on East
Timor being undertaken by President Nelson Mandela of South Africa.
A senior official in Jakarta was commenting on reports that Mr Mandela had invited the East Timorese exile and joint Nobel Peace Prize winner, Mr Jose
Ramos Horta, to visit Pretoria. Mr Mandela held a secret meeting with the jailed Timorese rebel leader, Mr Xanana Gusmao, last week. - (Reuter)
