Nanclares De Oca - Three jailed ETA guerrillas yesterday condemned the killing of a young Spanish politician by their fellow Basque rebels, signalling growing divisions within the radical separatist movement.

Adding their voices to the national outcry against the murder of 29-year-old Miguel Angel Blanco, the three men, reading a statement to reporters at a Basque prison, said ETA in recent days has "managed to accumulate more hate than in 38 years of terrorism".

The prisoners, Jose Manuel Soares Gamboa, Luis Gaston and Luis Gorriti, also denounced ETA's political arm, Herri Bastasuna, which has been accused by mainstream Spanish leaders of acting as "accomplices" to Mr Blanco's killing.
