SETTLING into her new Cork home is communications whizz Jackie Dawson, who left her job as PR person for UCD to take up her new position as festival manager for the Cork International Film Festival. The programme for the October event is, she says, coming together really well but they're keeping the name of their big opening movie under wraps for the moment.
A keen yachting fan, she is just back from a week in Bermuda where she went with pal Lauren Dagge to meet up with their respective partners Kinsale man Cameron Good and banker Gay Maloney, who were taking part in the Newport to Bermuda yacht race on Storm bird, a boat owned by the RIYC's Ciaran Foley. There was much celebration because the Irish boat came second in its class and an impressive seventh overall.
