The Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, has arrived in Iraq to visit Italian troops on a surprise visit, Italian news agencies report.
Ansa news agency quoted Paola della Casa, spokeswoman in Iraq for the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) as saying the prime minister was in Nassirya, where the troops are based.
