A senior Palestinian militant was killed today in what witnesses said was an Israeli airstrike on his vehicle, medics said.
The Israeli army had no immediate comment on the explosion.
A Palestinian family identified the body of the commander as Mohammed al-Dahdouh, an Islamic Jihad commander.
Medics had said earlier that the man belonged to Hamas. Confusion arose, they said, because his clothing resembled that of Hamas commanders.
