Stockholm - Israel yesterday awarded honorary citizenship to a Swedish diplomat who shielded thousands of Hungarian Jews from Nazi death camps in the closing years of the second World War.
Mr Per Anger, now 88, issued Jews with blue-and-gold Swedish protective identity cards, visas and other documents.
