An Irishman, Mr Aidan O'Driscoll, has been elected chairman of a top-level committee of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). Mr O'Driscoll, chief economist at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, was elected chairman of the food security committee at an FAO meeting in Rome yesterday.
