The Department of Foreign Affairs was unable to confirm last night whether an Irish woman was among passengers lost on Friday night when a ferry sank off the Indonesian coast. Reports yesterday indicated that rescuers had recovered 50 bodies, including one, identified only as a 32 year old Irish woman named Margaret.

So far rescuers have taken 47 survivors from the water. There were 210 people on board the ferry which sank off Banda Aceh.
