An Irish woman died after she was attacked during a burglary in South Africa last week, it has emerged.

An Irish woman died after she was attacked during a burglary in South Africa last week, it has emerged.

Cecily Clark, originally from Shankill, Co Dublin, was killed and her husband was injured by a robber in their home in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Ms Clark, who was 67, is survived by her husband John and children Jonathan, Simon and Emma.

A man has appeared in court in connection with the incident.

A memorial service is to be arranged at a later date.
