Denis Staunton has been appointed Washington Correspondent of The Irish Times. He succeeds Conor O'Clery, who has retired.

Denis Staunton has been appointed Washington Correspondent of The Irish Times. He succeeds Conor O'Clery, who has retired.

He was European Correspondent, based in Brussels, for the past five years and, prior to that, Germany correspondent, based in Berlin.

Born in Dublin and raised in Cork, he reported from Berlin for the Observer and the Guardian before joining The Irish Times.
