`Irish Times' appointment

Catherine Cleary has been appointed Drugs and Crime Correspondent. Aged 27, she was born in Sligo and grew up in Tipperary and Wicklow. A graduate of communications from the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1993, she completed a Masters in Journalism at Dublin City University in 1994, when she began contributing to The Irish Times. She was appointed a staff reporter in 1996.
