The body of Irishman Michael O’Brien has been recovered off the coast of Thailand.

The body of Irishman Michael O’Brien has been recovered off the coast of Thailand.

Mr O’Brien (24), from Templeogue in Dublin, went missing last Tuesday when he went surfing around Koh Pahngan island.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed his body was recovered on Saturday.

A spokesman said: "The department has been providing consular assistance through our consulate in Bangkok and their embassy in Malaysia to his family.”
