Irish artist P.J. Lynch, born in Belfast and working in Dublin, has won the Kate Greenaway Gold Medal for his illustrations for a children's book, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey. He received the award from Rabbi Julia Neuberger at the South Bank Centre in London.

Mr Lynch will donate £1,000 worth of books, which come with the medal, to the Lagan School in Belfast in support of inter denominational education in Northern Ireland.
