A woman escaped serious injury after a truck crashed in to her house in Midleton, Co Cork this morning.

The incident happened as a truck was reversing at Rosary Place in Midleton shortly before 10am .

Nobody was injured,the driver of the truck and a woman who was in the front room of the house at the time are said to be badly shaken.

The roof of the property incurred structural damage. A picture of the damaged house was posted on Twitter by a member of the public who witnessed the crash.

A Garda source indicated that the incident was not serious.

“We can confirm that gardai are investigating the incident in Midleton. There was a lady in the house but she was not injured. It was not as serious an incident as one would have thought from the Twitter pictures. Fortunately, nobody was injured.”

A member of the public, Noel Dolan, who witnessed the crash said he was shocked when he spotted the lorry reversing in to the house.

“I heard this crunching sound and I looked up and saw this huge juggernaut reversing in to the side of a house. It is an old house a historical house with a plaque at the side of it. I roared at him (the driver).

“There was actually somebody in the front room when it happened. An ambulance arrived and the woman was checked out. She was in a terrible state. She was badly shaken.”
