An 85-year-old fisherman has died after falling from a pier while tying up his boat last night.

The incident occurred at Rathmullen Pier on Lough Swilly, Co Donegal at around 10pm.

It is understood the man was attending to his boat when he appears to have slipped and fallen from the pier. It is thought he may have sustained a head injury.
