Kidnappers in Iraq have released a Turkish translator after Turkey protested strongly over a US offensive in northern Iraq, NTV television reported today.

Iraqi militants said in a videotape aired on Turkish television that they had released Aytullah Gezmen, who was abducted in late July, because of Turkey's official reaction against a US offensive on northern Iraqi city Tal Afar.
