AMMAN - Iraqi defector, Lieut Gen Hussein Kamel Hassan, said yesterday he had asked the Iraqi President, Mr Saddam Hussein, if he could return to Iraq and was hopeful of a positive reply in days.
"Yes I have made a direct contact with Baghdad ... I sent a written letter to Mr President (Saddam) asking to return with my family without preconditions on my side," he said in a telephone interview from one of King Hussein's palaces.
