Berlin - US aircraft bombed Iraqi air defences for a fourth consecutive day yesterday after coming under fire while patrolling a no-fly zone in the north, the Germanbased European Central Command (EUCOM) said.

It was the 39th such incident this year but the first time an exchange of fire has continued over four consecutive days. The US-British force patrols the northern no-fly zone from an airbase in Turkey.
