MANAMA - US inspectors had a very bad experience in Iraq where the authorities for the first time flatly refused them access to suspected weapons sites, the team leader, Mr Nikita Smidovich, said in Manama yesterday.

In previous standoffs the "Iraqis had always said let us work out arrangements' and later permitted us to visit the site, although after some delay," Mr Smidovich said after arriving in Bahrain. "But this time it was a flat and categorical denial.
