Investigations are being carried out by Mayo County Council and the North Western Regional Fisheries Board into the deaths of thousands of perch fry in Lough Conn. The dead fry have been washed up on the lake shore and near the intake of the treated water supply for Ballina town.
A county council spokesman said yesterday that the quality of the water was not affected.
