An investigation is under way after fire caused extensive damage at a derelict hotel complex in Co Cork last night.

The fire in the Blarney Park Hotel, which has been empty since last October, destroyed the roof of the leisure centre and caused some internal damage.

A garda spokesperson said that a technical team would be sent to examine the scene.

No one was in the building at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.
