A kitchen installer who used Swedish DIY company’s name Ikea in his business name has agreed to stop, the High Court has been told.

John Haugh, Donnycarney Road, Dublin, was alleged to have infringed the company’s trademark by calling his business “IKEA Kitchen Fitters”. He had registered the name with the Companies Office.

His counsel told the court yesterday he had removed the name from the Companies Office register and had dropped the name from his website.

Ms Justice Mary Laffoy said she was making permanent the orders preventing any infringement of trademark and Mr Haugh would have to pay the costs.
