Gardai in Dublin and Cork are investigating the causes of death of two elderly people. The Chief State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, has carried out a post mortem on James McNamara (77) who was found dead in his Raheny home on Sunday afternoon There was no sign of a break-in, but gardai are investigating due to evidence of blood stains in the hallway.

In Cork city, gardai are waiting to notify next of kin before releasing the name of an 82-year-old woman who died after falling into the fire at her home at Gardiner's Hill. It is believed she may have suffered a seizure and fallen into the fire.
