A £20,000 personal injuries award was reduced by 15 per cent yesterday because the motorist had not been wearing a seat belt.

The Circuit Court President, Mr Justice Frank Spain, heard that Paul Corr (39), of Enniskerry, Co Wicklow, suffered whiplash injuries when his head hit his windscreen in a collision.

Mr Justice Spain reduced the award when told the man had not been wearing a seat belt and had gone against medical advice to have physiotherapy treatment for his injuries.
