Police in Belfast are investigating the circumstance surrounding the discovery of an unconscious man in a derelict property in the south of the city.

The man, who is said to be in his 30s, was found lying on scaffolding by a member of the public in the Mount Charles area shortly after midday.

He was brought to the Royal Victoria Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Police have appealed for the public's assistance in identifying the man who is described as being of heavy build, and who was wearing a blue shirt and jeans.
