A man who was knocked down in Co Laois in the early hours of yesterday morning died this evening.
The 28-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured at Cappakeel as he walked towards Portlaiose, shortly before 2 a.m. yesterday. He was hit by a car travelling in the same direction.
He was named as Patrick McDonagh, Irishtown, Mountmellick, Co Laois. Gardaí in Portlaoise are investigating.
