Fianna Fail has called on the Tanaiste, Mr Spring, to protest to the Indonesian government at what it termed "the repressive actions of the military" against members of the political opposition in the country.

"It is clear that the raid on the opposition PDI (Indonesian Democratic Party) headquarters, two days after the meeting of the Association of Southeast - Asian Nations (ASEAN), was cynically postponed until after the departure of the EU Foreign Ministers from Jakarta," a Fianna Fail TD, Mr Tom Kitt, said yesterday.

Mr Spring was in Jakarta for the ASEAN meeting.
