NEW DELHI - India is pressing ahead with its missile programme in the face of international pressure, the Defence Ministry says.

It also plans to retain the option to build nuclear arms, the ministry said in its report for the year ending March 31st last, obtained by Reuters yesterday.

On the disputed Kashmir frontier yesterday, Indian troops exchanged fire with Pakistan forces.
