PARIS - Charles Sobhraj, a notorious criminal and French citizen whom India wants to expel, is free to return to France, French officials said yesterday.
"All French citizens have the right to live in France," the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Mr Jacques Rummelhardt, said. The Indian government decided on Tuesday to drop all pending cases against Sobhraj in order to press for his speedy deportation to France.
