The Irish Farmers Association has expressed concern about aspects of the environmental rules for forestry announced by the Minister for the Environment, Mr Howlin.

While broadly welcoming the rules, the chairman of the IFA's forestry section, Mr Padraic Divilly, said the requirement that all projects over 25 hectares be notified to the local authorities, who will have a consultative role, could lead to "huge delays".
