Icelandic prime minister to visit Ireland

The prime minister of Iceland is to pay an official visit to Ireland next week.

The prime minister of Iceland is to pay an official visit to Ireland next week.

Geir Haarde and his wife Inga Jona Poroardottir are expected to meet Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and pay a courtesy visit to President Mary McAleese during the short trip.

A reception will also be held in their honour at the National Museum of Ireland on September 13th.

Mr Haarde paid a a five-day visit to Scotland last month.

Iceland does not have an embassy in Ireland but diplomatic representation is handled from London.
