Dr Cora Smyth, who played the fiddle for Ireland's Eurovision winning song The Voice, will officially open the first Dr Douglas Hyde Summer School of Traditional Music and Dance in Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon, tomorrow. Dr Smyth's grandparents live in the town. The summer school, which continues until next Saturday, will feature music classes in the mornings, lectures on traditional music in the afternoons, set dance classes and traditional sessions in the evenings.

Among those giving lectures will be Fintan Vallely, Gary Hastings, Caoimhin Mac Aodha and Nora Griallais.
