The husband of the Latvian mother of two who was fatally shot at her north Dublin home at the weekend is to make a bail application at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today.

Hassan Hassan is currently serving a four-year sentence for handling stolen goods.

His estranged wife Baiba Saulite was shot by a lone man at 9.45pm on Sunday as she stood in the hallway of her home on Holywell Square, Feltrim Road as her sons, aged three and five, slept upstairs.

Her sons are now being looked after by social services.

Hassan,  a Lebanese national, was jailed for his role in  a multi-million euro car-ringing scam involving executive models being shipped to the Middle East with false documentation.
