Miami - Hurricane Bonnie blinked and wobbled in the Atlantic Ocean yesterday but remained a powerful hurricane that forecasters said could hit the US east coast by midweek.

"Satellite images no longer show an eye and Bonnie may have weakened slightly," the National Hurricane Centre said. However, the forecasters said, "Bonnie is forecast to remain a powerful hurricane for the next 24 hours."
