London - Britain's appeal court stepped into a long-running controversy over fox hunting yesterday stripping a hunt saboteur of compensation awarded for injuries in a fight with a hunt supporter.

The court ruled that the saboteur, Mr Harry Cross, was not entitled to £52,000 in damages he was awarded by a lower court after he suffered brain damage and epilepsy from a violent 1992 clash with a hunt supporter, Mr Bill Kirkby.
