DARWIN - An Australian taxi driver with cancer yesterday dropped his plan to starve to death in protest against opposition to his availing of the world's only voluntary euthanasia law.

Mr Max Bell (65), who drove thousands of kilometres to the Northern Territory capital of Darwin to be the first to use the controversial law, said he would fight his stomach cancer as long as possible.
