CANBERRA - The junior party in Australia's ruling Liberal-National coalition yesterday rejected the planned solution by the Prime Minister, Mr John Howard, to a bitter land rights row between Aborigines and farmers. The National Party called for Mr Howard's compromise strategy to be changed to wipe out Aboriginal title rights to land leased to farmers.

Last week Mr Howard released his plan, which he says gives farmers security over their leases while recognising Aboriginal rights.
